The White House has presented certain organizations with a set of requirements they must fulfill prior to receiving reinstated federal funding. However, according to a recent survey, merely four out of every ten Americans support this action taken by the White House.

Most participants indicated that universities provide fresh concepts and cutting-edge technologies, along with advancing healthcare and scientific investigations.

Sixty-three percent of surveytakers said universities make unprecedented positive contributions in the field of technology, while 27 percent said neither negative or positive changes are made from schools and 9 percent said they have a negative impact.

Sixty-four percent indicated that they think higher education institutions contribute to advancing research, twenty-six percent believed these institutions do not make an impact, and nine percent felt their influence on research is negative.

Less than half of Americans, 48 percent, said colleges contribute to the quality of the workforce. Thirty-four percent said that secondary education institutions have no impact on professional fields and 17 percent said the impact is bleak.

The AP-NORC survey polled 1,175 adults from May 1st through May 5th. The margin of error for this study stands at 4 percentage points.
