ChargePoint
, the foremost title in
electric vehicle
charging ports, has unveiled its latest
technology
, promising increased capabilities for consumers.
Based on a report from
Electrek
, ChargePoint’s new architecture is described as a “generational leap in AC Level 2 charging” thanks to its vehicle-to-everything, or V2X, capabilities. That means it can
charge electric vehicles
as well as use EVs to power a home or building and send excess energy back to the grid.
It also boasts faster charging rates for AC power (80 amperes/19.2 kilowatts), enabling an electric vehicle to charge from 0% to full capacity in about four hours, which is almost twice as quick as the present norm. Additionally, its capability for series wiring allows
EV fleet depots
, multiunit buildings, or homes with multiple EVs to maximize their charging rates without altering existing wiring or energy plans.
Hossein Kazemi, chief technical officer of hardware at ChargePoint, told Electrek: “ChargePoint’s next generation of EV chargers will be revolutionary, not evolutionary. The architecture underpinning them enables highly anticipated technologies which will deliver a significantly better experience for station owners and the EV drivers who charge with them.”
ChargePoint has already introduced its Omni Port technology, enabling a
wider range of EVs
to use any port location. This new and improved technology makes opting for an EV even more appealing.
Tesla
has been working with ChargePoint to power its cars, but other manufacturers such as
Hyundai
and
General Motors
have also entered into agreements with the firm, offering consumers numerous choices and motivations to make the transition to electric vehicles.
Charging an EV
is more cost-effective compared to refueling a gasoline vehicle, which is just one of the numerous advantages of choosing an electric option. Additionally, another significant benefit is the decrease in greenhouse gases emitted into the environment because electric vehicles do not produce tailpipe emissions.
don’t emit pollution

Although there’s much to look forward to regarding ChargePoint’s latest technology, someone from the comments was critical of ChargePoint’s ongoing utilization of alternating current.
They noted, ‘That entire concept doesn’t make any sense at all.’ There exists technology capable of rapidly charging vehicles.

Additionally, enabling the vehicle to serve as an energy provider for devices through V2L, for houses via V2H, and for the power grid using V2G, this capability is referred to as bidirectional DC charging.
