Complete Statement from Dr. Cameisha Clark’s Family
We regretfully announce that Dr. Cameisha Denise Clark left us on Monday evening, gently enveloped by her beloved family and friends. The grief within our hearts knows no bounds. This cherished individual had her existence cruelly cut short through an utterly meaningless act of brutality—such injustice should never befall any woman. Her presence was a testament to kindness and grace; she did not merit such a fate. At the peak of her journey, engaged in pursuits close to her heart, tragedy struck unexpectedly.
Cameisha stood out as the most empathetic, loving, and intensely devoted individual. She was an effulgent, joyous, motivated, and kind-hearted woman whose influence extended nationwide, reaching from her origins in Atlanta, GA, all the way to Los Angeles.
Her legacy is defined not by the manner of her death, but by the extraordinary way she lived. She was a trailblazer and an inspiration, having recently been promoted to a dean at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood. Cameisha uplifted everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her leadership, integrity, and deep sense of purpose helped shape futures of countless students from the campus of Clark Atlanta University to Spartan College. She believed in the potential of others even when they could not yet see it in themselves.
And beyond her professional accomplishments, Cameisha was a beloved granddaughter, daughter, sister, friend, and mentor. She brought warmth, laughter, and grace into our lives every day. Her presence was a gift, and the void left behind is immeasurable. We are deeply grateful for the continued prayers, support, and outpouring of love.
We’d like to thank her incredible team of doctors at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center for their tireless efforts and support – the entire team was phenomenal over the last four days, spent in their care.
We’d like to address an unacceptable and stressing incident involving the misinformation that was reported by the local CBS affiliate, K-CAL, and attributed to mayor James Butts, declaring our sister brain-dead days before she had passed. This information reached the CBS network website and it took days before the error was removed, but a retraction was never made. That is unacceptable. Our hope moving forward is that the story, life and legacy of Dr. Clark will remain the focus as we move forward in our healing. As we grieve, we ask for privacy and space to honor her memory in peace. We are committed to seeking justice on her behalf and ensuring that her life continues to inspire and empower others.
