MANCHESTER, CT — Eversource Energy partnered with the Arbor Day Foundation to distribute over 160 trees to local residents at the public works yard on Friday.
As part of the initiative to celebrate Arbor Day, Eversource demonstrated its “continuing dedication to sustainability and environmental stewardship.” In collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation, they aimed to hand out over 1,000 complimentary trees to consumers residing in various chosen towns throughout their three-state operational area via the non-profit’s creative programs.

This year, residents of Manchester and Torrington could secure a free tree on a first-come, first-served basis. The program provided participants with an online tool where they could examine their properties and identify optimal spots for planting trees to enhance energy efficiency. Additionally, this platform enabled individuals to estimate both the ecological advantages and potential yearly financial savings from these plantings.
Customers who qualified were allowed to reserve one free tree per household as part of the program’s offerings.

After the successful implementation of the Energy-Saving Trees project last year, we are thrilled to expand this effort into further areas within Connecticut,” stated Jenna Turner, Eversource’s Manager of Vegetation Management, “This will enable even more customers to understand the significance of selecting appropriate locations for their trees.” She added, “Properly situated trees not only assist customers in conserving energy but also offer significant ecological advantages such as enhanced air quality, decreased stormwater runoff, and fostering biodiversity along with pollinator support. We feel privileged to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation on this distinctive program, which resonates well with our commitment to be conscientious environmental caretakers throughout all served regions while maintaining dependable and secure power supply for our clients.
Dan Lambe, CEO of the Arbor Day Foundation, has been added. He stated, “We are delighted to keep working alongside Eversource as partners to disseminate trees throughout multiple cities and neighborhoods. This collaboration highlights the firm’s commitment to environmental stewardship and fostering constructive transformations within various New England communities. These distributed trees play an essential role in enhancing regional air quality and offering significant energy conservation benefits.
