The high-end British audio equipment maker dCS has come back with an enhancement to its top-rated luxury digital-to-analog converter (DAC).
When it was released in 2022, the Lina DAC and network streamer received flawless reviews. Now, they have introduced an even larger version that could be improved over the original.
The Lina DAC X expands upon the current model by offering increased space. While the initial version boasts a sleek form factor of only 22 cm in width, the updated unit features a full-width body crafted from solid aluminum, providing ample area beyond what’s needed merely for the display.
The updated version comes with a rotary controller, enhanced connection options, and a separate remote phone. Visually, it appears much more refined to me—the new DAC X seems far slimmer and trendier compared to its earlier iteration.
The fundamental technology remains unchanged; hence, the DAC X serves as a comprehensive high-resolution streaming device compatible with major platforms like TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify, Deezer, and QQ Music. Additionally, it supports various music management applications such as Roon, Spotify Connect, Audirvana, and JPLAY.
QQ Music support has been recently added, and the DAC X also accommodates CD and SACD transport functionalities.
The DAC X can be connected to any amplifier, including directly to power amplifiers or active speakers, to create a complete music playback system. And like many high-end audio products, it’s here for a long as well as good time.
This system boasts a versatile design allowing dCS to provide performance enhancements and new features via over-the-air updates at no cost.
The Lina DAC X is now available.
