The final product I anticipated seeing unveiled by them was

The brand initially was a stand mixer, but I’m thrilled Ooni chose to create one.

Ooni debuted its
first ever stand mixer
In April 2025, the Halo Pro Spiral Stand Mixer will be available, boasting the ability to create ideal pizza dough. This appliance operates with a distinct approach compared to conventional stand mixers; its design, attachments, and mixing action aim to enhance gluten formation and air incorporation within the dough for superior pizza outcomes.

I’ve spent some time using the Ooni Halo Pro, and it’s quickly become a staple in my kitchen. From cookies to hot cross buns, after testing it in many different ways, I’d choose it over any other stand mixer – here’s why.

Ooni Halo Pro Review: Cost and Availability

The Ooni Halo Pro has a price tag of £699 / $799 and can be purchased now.
Ooni
It is available in charcoal grey and polar white colors. The price of £700 / $800 is relatively high, but this is usually what you would expect to pay for KitchenAid and Kenwood stand mixers as well.

Ooni Halo Pro review: unboxing and setup

When the Ooni Halo Pro came in a big box, my immediate reaction was “Wow, this thing is hefty!” Removing the stand mixer from the packaging and placing it on my counter felt like an exercise routine. Additionally, maneuvering it across surfaces occasionally posed challenges because of how substantial it is. However, if you intend to leave your Ooni Halo Pro visible continuously—like I have—you likely won’t face these issues much. But do bear in mind that lifting and relocating it will be cumbersome if you plan to store it away in a cabinet regularly.

In addition to the stand mixer, I got the Flexible Beater, Geared Whisk, Spiral Hook, Breaker Bar, and guard attachments as well. Attaching the stainless-steel mixing bowl from the Ooni Halo Pro to the main unit was straightforward, plus its size made it convenient for storing all these extras inside.

Although I am fond of the appearance of the Ooni Halo Pro, it does have a rather bulky design, which is typical for stand mixers since these aren’t compact devices. However, it did not consume much counter space in my kitchen, and it gave my cooking area a more upscale and professional touch, something I appreciated.

Ooni Halo Pro Review: Design and Features

The Ooni Halo Pro takes a somewhat distinct approach compared to conventional stand mixers. This is due to the fact that the Ooni Halo Pro operates as a spiral mixer; rather than merely rotating the attachments to blend ingredients, this model rotates both the attachments and the bowl itself. This dual rotation facilitates more comprehensive mixing and better aeration of the contents.

Available in charcoal or white, the Ooni Halo Pro looks amazing, and is expertly functional, too – no style over substance here. At the top of the mixer is a touchscreen and aluminium dial which is what controls the mixer. It has two options to control, speed and time, and you select this by pressing the two icons on the left side.

To adjust both the speed and timing, merely rotate the knob followed by pressing it to begin. While operating, the countdown timer displays the remaining time, allowing for adjustments to the speed mid-mixing as needed. Should you wish to halt operations temporarily, pressing the control knob will suffice. Additionally, the Ooni Halo Pro emits a beep upon startup, shutdown, setting a timer, and once your session concludes.

The Ooni Halo Pro provides 58 different levels of RPM adjustment for all its various attachments. Among these accessories, the standout feature is undoubtedly its detachable breaker bar. Used together with the spiral dough hook, this appliance delivers a double-action kneading process that effectively strengthens and elongates the gluten strands in your dough, ideal for making perfect pizzas.

To attach the accessories, the Ooni Halo Pro has a clever lever system that is sat just underneath the main head of the mixer. Simply push down on both sides and the Ooni Halo Pro lifts up to attach them. The underside also has two lights which illuminate the bowl, and it has two attachment locking mechanisms underneath, one for the breaker bar and one for the other accessories.

Ooni Halo Pro Review: How It Performs

I’ve been using the Ooni Halo Pro for more than a month now, preparing everything from pizzas and flatbreads to cookies and hot cross buns. As an avid baker, I made good use of the timing since the Ooni Halo Pro showed up at my place right before Easter when relatives were visiting, providing me with a great opportunity to showcase my culinary talents.

Beginning with baking cookies, the Ooni Halo Pro efficiently blended all ingredients swiftly and effortlessly utilizing the adaptable beater, which I deemed ideal for mixes not solely consisting of dough. It amalgamated everything admirably, and both the timer and settings proved straightforward to adjust. The ease with which I could raise and lower the mixing bowl’s head appealed to me greatly; additionally, the fact that it operated hands-free enhanced convenience—I could initiate it and promptly move on to other tasks within the kitchen without interruption.

When making hot cross buns, the Ooni Halo Pro handled the dough effortlessly. I was pleasantly surprised that it did not require excessive energy even with a somewhat denser mix. The outcome was tender and light buns. Given that hot cross bun batter tends to be rather moist, I was pleased at how well it prevented sticking despite the wet consistency.

Flatbreads were another experiment for me, along with pizzas—I simply had to try making pizza using an Ooni product! The breaker bar is quite a smart addition; it significantly improved the dough’s texture. The resulting dough was light, elastic, and formed excellent gluten strands, leading to crispy yet fluffy pizza bases.

The quantity of attachments was perfect, providing everything needed for kneading, mixing, and beating. They were simple to connect and detach; however, I struggled with securing the whisk because it fits into two locking mechanisms, which made alignment tricky—though this might be due to my own difficulty rather than an inherent flaw.

Apart from the beeps, I noticed that the Ooni Halo Pro produced a subtle background noise during operation. It reminded me of the sound an air purifier makes, and although this was not disturbing, the Ooni Halo Pro is certainly not known for being exceptionally silent.

Some drawbacks with the Ooni Halo Pro were its considerable weight, as mentioned earlier. Additionally, I felt that the mixing bowl’s capacity was somewhat excessive for preparing smaller batches. While the depth of the bowl worked well for kneading dough, when making items such as cookies, the mixture tended to stick to the sides or get caught up in the attachments more frequently compared to how dough behaved.

Ooni Halo Pro Review: Conclusion

The Ooni Halo Pro has become my most cherished item in the kitchen, and since getting it, I’ve been baking and making pizzas far more often – though this definitely isn’t aiding my progress on the wedding diet, let me assure you!

I’m fond of the design of the Ooni Halo Pro—it’s stunning and clearly demonstrates that every detail, from its controls to its levers and accessories, was meticulously considered. For those who frequently enjoy homemade pizzas made from scratch, the Ooni Halo Pro is essential because it significantly enhances the overall quality, flavor, and consistency of your pies. Additionally, I believe this appliance would be a valuable asset even beyond just making pizza; serious bakers will likely appreciate all the benefits offered by the Ooni Halo Pro.
