Young Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Shooting At Home

A man from Belle Glade is now in custody after a shooting that took place last month.

Wilberken Casseus, aged 20, was apprehended on Thursday and faced charges including three counts of attempting to commit second-degree murder using a firearm, along with firing shots into an inhabited structure.

A report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office stated that they attended to a shooting incident on April 22nd.

The ShotSpotter system notified deputies about the shooting. The sheriff’s office reported that an elderly woman and two young children were found inside the building that had been targeted.

While deputies were working the scene of the shooting, Casseus was located and in possession of a semi-automatic AR-style pistol.

The sheriff’s department stated that Casseus discarded his weapon and fled before he was apprehended.

As part of their probe, the deputies managed to verify that the physical evidence collected at the site of the shooting corresponded with the weapon found in Casseus’s custody.

The court instructed Casseus to avoid all communication with the victim.

Casseus is currently detained at the Palm Beach County Jail and has been denied bail.
