Hideo Kojima has revealed information regarding the yet-to-be-announced third installment in the series.
During an interview with
VideoGamesChronicle
, Kojima explained that
while he has a concept for
Death Stranding 3
, he does not anticipate being part of its creation
.
Death Stranding 2: At The Shoreline
is set to release solely on PlayStation 5 on June 26th, 2025.
Kojima won’t be making Death Stranding 3 himself, but he’ll hand it over to another creator instead.
Hideo Kojima has established himself as one of the foremost innovative forces in the gaming industry. He gained recognition primarily for developing the
Metal Gear
series in the late 80s and early 90s. Over the last ten years, after issues with Konami, Kojima founded his now independent studio Kojima Productions, which went on to put out the first
Death Stranding
game.

is set for release soon, however, over the past several years, Kojima has additionally announced
an enigmatic new fright game

The game is being released even though the sequel isn’t available yet. However, given the extensive workload Kojima currently faces, it’s understandable that he would consider such an option. With his vast experience in the industry and at 61 years old, this seems like a logical approach for him.
Given the amount of time required to develop games of this magnitude, it might take an additional five years before completion.

It remains uncertain whom the responsibilities would be handed over to. Certainly, numerous colleagues at Kojima Productions possess experience with both installments of the series and could continue its legacy. However, Kojima is an iconic figure within the realm of video games.
It is not a legacy that would be simple to uphold.
