Hello Strand enthusiasts! A single-word theme often complicates the start of Strands events, and “ Outsiders” proved to be just as challenging.

That meant I ended up using a clue, and was instantly kicking myself. It revealed TENT – of course this was going to be about camping!

I found BACKPACK to its right (after incorrectly connecting “backpacking” first), and then the spangram of CAMPINGGEAR, which rather neatly made the shape of a tent in the middle of the board.

Since I’m not fond of camping and have only participated when it involved music festivals, getting into it was quite challenging for me. However, I managed to get through it without relying on additional hints. I located GRILL initially and then FOUND LANTERN in the lower right corner.

I subsequently noticed COOLER in the bottom-left corner, leaving only THERMOS to fill the center of the board and finish the puzzle.
