McClatchy News contacted the technology company for their input on May 8 and were still waiting for a reply.

According to the settlement details, certain Apple users may be eligible for as much as $20 per Siri-enabled device, stated the settlement administrators.

Who’s eligible?

According to the administrators, those eligible to file a claim must:

  • Be someone who currently owns or has previously owned or purchased an Apple device equipped with Siri.
  • Reside in the U.S. or a U.S. territory
  • Have reportedly had their personal conversations accessed by Apple or disclosed to a third party because of unintentional Siri activation between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024.


How do I file a claim?

Claim forms can be completed and
submitted online

Certain Apple customers got an email or postcard informing them about the settlement, including a Claim Identification Code to use when submitting their claims, as stated on the website. Even those who didn’t receive such notifications via mail or email can still submit a claim.

Every claim needs to be submitted by Wednesday, July 2.

Users of Apple devices who file a legitimate complaint have the potential to receive as much as $20 for each qualifying gadget; however, the ultimate payout might vary upwards or downwards based on how many complaints are filed, according to what the administrators stated.

Customers have the option to file claims for up to five Siri devices.

What is the expected date for my payment?

Payments will be processed after a court approves the settlement, unless there are any appeals, as stated on the administrator’s website. A hearing to conclude the terms is set for August 1st.
