The Lane Transit District (LTD) has introduced a new fare verification system for its rapid transit service, EmX [“Em-X”].
Deploying the new tech represents just one aspect of LTD’s broader initiative to revamp its technological backbone.
To confirm their ticket price, passengers will have several choices:
-
Scan their tap card or a QR code on it.
Umo app
As they get on EmX, much like boarding a local bus. -
At busy transit hubs (referenced below), commuters
can confirm their fare using the Umo app at the locations of the QR code signage
Before they get onboarded. This will speed up both the boarding and deboarding procedures.
LTD receives financial support from both employers and employees, along with contributions from state and federal levels,” explained Joe McCormack, the organization’s Chief Development Officer. “This advanced technology will enable LTD to manage public funds even more effectively.” He added, “The EmX service is highly favored for moving large numbers of passengers daily. As we implement these improvements, our commuters can anticipate quicker boarding processes, enhanced fare inspections for safety, and a significant decrease in instances of unpaid fares.
Aside from the Eugene and Springfield stations, the following are also LTD stations featuring QR code signage: Agate, Centennial, Commerce, Dads’ Gate, High Street, Hilyard, Monroe, Seneca, and Walnut.
”
EmX connects
west Eugene, downtown Eugene, the University of Oregon, downtown Springfield, and the Gateway and RiverBend areas,” the service said. “This rapid transit bus is the backbone of LTD’s service, carrying 12,000 riders a day and connecting to other bus routes, as well as
Park & Ride locations
and bicycle-pedestrian pathways.”
